The goal of the Pedal Car Challenge project is to encourage youth to consider the automotive industry as a viable career choice by providing them with a hands-on opportunity to design and build a pedal car. Not only do they learn the fundamentals of vehicle design and manufacturing, but also teamwork, discipline, and dedication – important skills to become successful in the automotive industry! 

The project is free of cost to schools. The Automotive Retailers Association (ARA), along with our industry partners, will provide participating schools with a pedal-car kit, paint/materials, as well as mentorship and guidance to help students complete the pedal car.

The project start date is January 2026 and will finish at the end of April 2026. Instructors can choose to incorporate this into their curriculum or into a lunch/after-school club.
